In 1940, a village in Abruzzo, Italy became a casualty of war. One young girl and her mother managed to escape and embark on a voyage to the United States. Little did she know, that young girl would in time become my Nonna. Fiore, meaning "flower" in Italian serves as a symbol of hope for many. Fiore Italian Soda is a testament to my Nonna’s hope and bravery during a time of great turmoil. Our mission is to inspire our customers to fearlessly chase their dreams and valiantly embark on the journey of life. The brand is in need of a custom logotype, a series of bottle labels, and advertisements that embody the spirit of the company’s rich heritage. The labels created for Fiore blend classic, old world attributes with hints of contemporary design. The logotype features ornate letterforms with budding serifs, swooping curves, and accents of color. The label also features two patterns throughout its design. The pattern on the navy band depicts a Presentosa, a type of necklace with origins in Abruzzo that symbolizes special occasions throughout one’s life. By having this pattern on the bottle, Fiore encourages its customers to come together to share a drink, giving the gift of time and creating lasting memories. The central label also features a custom pattern of the Columbine flower, which is found on Abruzzo's mountainsides. By having Fiore's history inspire the details and symbolism within the design, the project embraces the company's heartfelt mission. The use of color, pattern, and ornamentation bring the labels to life, bursting with a story to tell.
